Endovenous Laser Ablation

Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) is a minimally invasive ultrasound-guided procedure for treating varicose veins that delivers laser energy inside the vein. The laser energy is delivered through a tiny laser fiber to thermally ablate the targeted vein segment, effectively shrinking and sealing it shut. Tumescent local anesthesia is used to keep the patient from feeling any pain or discomfort during the procedure. The EVLA procedure is performed in 30 minutes or less in a comfortable, office-based setting. Patients are able to drive themselves home afterwards and resume their normal activities immediately.

Laser technology has been proven to be safe and effective for the EVLA procedure. At Hogue Vein Institute, the Sciton 1319nm Nd:YAG laser has been chosen and implemented as the optimal laser device for performing the EVLA procedure. With tens of thousands of successful EVLA procedures performed since 2004, we believe Hogue Vein Institute represents the best choice for professional vein care in Minnesota and the surrounding areas. Not all vein clinics are the same. Experience and expertise does matter!

All therapeutic vein treatments at Hogue Vein Institute are initially preceded by a comprehensive vein evaluation to make an accurate diagnosis of the underlying vein condition. This allows our vein specialists to determine the most appropriate vein treatment strategy. If you are having signs or symptoms of varicose veins, or if you have had previous therapeutic vein treatment elsewhere, we encourage you to call us to schedule a FREE vein screening or a comprehensive vein evaluation.
